Novel length Murderbot!
Everyone's favourite SecUnit returns for a feature length movie, following the successful 4 part miniseries. It has everything which made Martha Wells' novellas fine comfort reading with the time and space for more exposition. An opportunity to expand the world-building around the Corporate Rim and the significance of 'alien remnant contamination'.
After a slightly bumpy beginning (required to insert SecUnit and its human clients into a precarious situation) the tale provides tension, humour and a satisfying conclusion. And yes there is an inevitable sequel - not 'Network effect 2' but 'Fugitive Telemetry'
'Network Effect won the 2021 Nebula Award for Best Novel and is a finalist for the 2020 Hugo Award in the same category. It was the winner, but was not first on my ballot
